The Good Place

The Good Place is the perfect cure for a rainy day. This comedy series follows Eleanor Shellstrop, played by Kristen Bell, who learns at the very beginning of the series that she has died and has ended up in Heaven. Michael the architect, played brilliantly by Ted Danson, is responsible for running the small community. She eventually meets Chidi Anagonye, William Jackson Harper, another newcomer to Heaven and Eleanor’s soulmate. The twist comes when Eleanor informs Chidi that she wasn’t the best person during her life on Earth and there had been some sort of mistake. She also convinces Chidi to teach her ethics so that she can learn to fit around the people in Heaven. 

The show is loved by fans everywhere. It will no doubt make you forget about the gloomy weather and make you feel all warm and fuzzy. The friendships formed and the bonds solidified throughout the run of the show will warm you up more than your hot chocolate ever could.

Love & Monsters

Love and Monsters star Dylan O’Brien as Joel Dawson, a survivor of the monster apocalypse that threatened humanity seven years ago. However, despite surviving all those years ago, Joel is unhappy because he was separated from Aimee, the love of his life whom he promised he would find. Deciding that he doesn’t want to die without having seen her, and leaves the safety of his underground bunker to search for her. Along his quest, he finds monsters that he needs to fight and evade. The movie offers adventure with an emotional depth that is not common in action flicks. Joel’s determination is encouraging to watch and leaves you feeling giddy. 

The Breakfast Club

One of the most popular coming-of-age movies in the cinema, The Breakfast Club was released in 1985 and was considered to be John Hughes’s most memorable piece of work. The movie earned critical acclaim and is a favorite amongst cinephiles even today. The movie introduces us to five students, all of whom have been booked for all-day detention. The group consists of a Jock, a nerd, a princess, a basket case, and a criminal. The day starts rough as each student belongs to a different clique, but by the end learn that they have much more in common. The ensemble cast earned an ardent fan base and was also nicknamed ‘The Brat Pack’ by tabloids everywhere. 

Back to the Future 

Back to the Future was released in 1985 and went on to become the highest-grossing movie in the world that year. Starring Michael J. Fox, Marty McFly, Crispin Glover, and more, the movie revolves around a teenager who accidentally ends up in the past. The eccentric Dr. Emmett Brown hopes to test out his time-traveling car, and when things go wrong, Marty ends up in 1955. There, he attempts to find Doc so that he can find a way to return to the future. While Doc looks for a solution, he warns Marty not to meddle with the past or otherwise risk altering the future greatly. 

Lord of the Rings

Based on the books by Tolkien, the adventure fantasy trilogy was directed by Peter Jackson. The story begins in Middle Earth where we meet Frodo Baggins, a hobbit who is left to guard the One Ring by his uncle. Learning that the Nazgul are searching for Frodo Baggins, Gandalf warns him to leave the Shire with his gardener, Samwise Gamgee. The pair are joined by Merry and Pippin and later find Aragorn, a ranger who knows Gandalf and intends to help them. Frodo takes on the task to destroy the One Ring taking the help of the Fellowship to defeat Sauron once and for all. The trilogy is regarded as one of the most influential film series ever and for good reason. We ensure that the hours you spend watching these movies will be as heartwarming as can be. 

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender is easily one of the best animated shows ever made. The series follows Katara and her brother Sokka, who stumbles upon the last Airbender, Aang, who had been frozen in ice for the past hundred years. Aang learns that for as long as he has been frozen, a war has raged across the world, which is being led by the Fire Nation and only he can stop it. Prince Zuko, son of the Fire Lord, has been searching for the Avatar since being banished from Fire Nation. 

The fictional world is divided into four nations, each corresponding to one of the elements fire, water, air, and earth. Aang has to defeat the fire lore, before the arrival of Sozin’s comet, or risk leaving the world to the Fire Lord’s terror. The year-long series follows Aang as he learns to master the four elements so that he may help everyone who’s been waiting for him to return.
